My Favorite Godiva Chocolate:
“There’s something different in every category. If I was gonna have a bar, it would be a Coconut Macadamia Bar. If I was gonna have a truffle, Miss Berry’s Jubilee. My overall favorite right now would be the Hazelnut Praline Biscuit.”
The Godiva chocolate that best represents my personality:
Open Oyster: “I’m an open person, I’m open to ideas, but then I’m kind of crazy and an Open Oyster is finely ground hazelnuts!” |

What qualities does it take for someone to be successful at Godiva?
Hard worker. Willing to put the time in. I believe creativity is important because you have to come up with contests, promotions, ways to motivate your staff. The ability to motivate. Organizational skills are vital – if you can organize your store properly, that helps it run so much better overall.
|
What’s the work culture like at Godiva?
One thing that I love about my job is that you have this sense of ownership of your store, if you take it. You get to run your store how you want – they give directives and things like that, but you get that feeling of ownership.
|
How does working at Godiva compare to your previous work experiences?
Godiva has been most of my working career. I started as part-time sales in high school and then came back after college. Just knowing that if I do a good job and then I leave, I can always come back to Godiva.
|
What do you do in your current position to help achieve Godiva’s "Gold Standard of customer service"?
I have my own little catch phrase – you know how the saying goes that “the customer’s always right”? Well, I don’t feel they’re always right, but I feel they should always win. Even if they’re not right, they should not leave the store feeling as if they lost in their shopping experience. Everyone should walk out feeling like a winner from their Godiva experience.
|
How does Godiva show it cares for its employees?
As a manager, I love the perks. We’re not required to work for 2 Saturdays a month and one Sunday a month – that’s unheard of in retail! I love that when managers have to work 6 days a week for 4-5 weeks during Christmas – while other companies would say "OK, thanks," Godiva actually gives you a week of comp time for doing that. You’re not gonna find those kind of things in the average company.
|
What’s the most challenging thing about working at Godiva?
My challenge is to keep having fun and stay motivated. I’m always thinking, "OK, what can I do new or different?"
|
What’s the best thing about working at Godiva?
You get to do things that are different as opposed to doing the same thing all the time. Being able to be creative. For me, just helping customers.
