Planning & Scheduling Supervisor
Stephanie’s knowledge of how the Godiva production floor works and what they need helped her get this position.

Creative Services
During her time as a Packaging Supervisor, Stephanie moved over to Creative Services for 2 months but realized that it wasn’t for her and moved back to production.
Packaging Supervisor
Even though Stephanie didn’t have the right background for this position, Godiva thought that, since she had knowledge of the product, they could train her as a supervisor.

  My Favorite Godiva Chocolate:
Open Oyster: “It’s the first piece I ever bought when I knew I was going to get hired here, and it’s still my favorite.”

The Godiva chocolate that best represents my personality:
A piece from the G collection: “They’re a leading-edge, very creative, out-of-the-ordinary, high-end collection of candy pieces. They have funky combinations like a PB&J.”

What qualities does it take for someone to be successful at Godiva?
You definitely have to be able to change and grow with the company. If you’re somebody that’s hard-working and gets results, they don’t ignore that. That’s what helped me move up. You also have to show interest in everything else, and be willing to learn new things.

What’s the work culture like at Godiva?
It’s like a family. This company is not so big that we don’t all know each other. And I’ve been here long enough that I know people in the salary positions as well as in the hourly workforce. It’s a good place to work. It’s positive. They work through problems, focusing on how to correct problems instead of focusing on who screwed up. It’s very comfortable.

How does working at Godiva compare to your previous work experiences?
I worked in Quality Assurance doing analytical testing in dairies. There’s no comparison. It was very mundane, same routine every day, very boring. This place is just so much better, I can’t even explain it.

What do you do in your current position to help achieve Godiva’s "Gold Standard of customer service"?
Whatever it takes to get the high quality product out the door, that’s what we need to do. One year, we had velvet hearts that were wrinkled. So we were out there ironing and steaming them. You do what it takes.

How does Godiva show it cares for its employees?
Throughout the year they have different events. They have a very successful safety program. If you participate in a big plant tour, you get recognized. There’s the Make a Difference award if you go above and beyond what’s normally expected of you. But it starts with walking in the door and seeing the plant – you feel like you’re in a place that’s put together.

What’s the most challenging thing about working at Godiva?
I pay a lot of attention to the detail, so for me the challenge is that not everybody understands how everything’s connected and how what they do affects the other departments. That can be frustrating.

What’s the best thing about working at Godiva?
First of all, it’s the brand. Also, things are constantly changing. Every season we’re creating new boxes. I know that even though I’m not working on the color of the ribbon or the package, I’m involved in getting all that out the door every season. To me, that’s very exciting. There are a lot of people here who are passionate about what they do, and you can see that in working with them.
